Terms of Service

Last updated 15 August 2026

These terms govern use of YouOwnMusic by venues that subscribe to it and by the customers who request songs through it. By creating an account or submitting a song request, you agree to them.

1. What YouOwnMusic is

YouOwnMusic is a song request and queue management platform. It provides search over permitted music-provider metadata, a verification step, a moderation pipeline, a venue queue, and a player interface.

YouOwnMusic is not a music hosting or streaming service. We do not download, extract, convert, store or redistribute copyrighted audio. Playback uses the music provider's own permitted player mechanisms, and we do not bypass provider restrictions, circumvent advertisements or access controls, or hide required provider UI.

2. Accounts

  • You must give accurate details and keep them current.
  • You are responsible for everything done under your account, including by your staff.
  • Keep your password confidential and tell us promptly of any unauthorised access.
  • Accounts are for commercial venues; you must be authorised to act for the venue.

3. Subscriptions and billing

  • Plans are billed monthly, quarterly or yearly, in advance. Venues in India are billed in INR through Razorpay; venues elsewhere are billed in USD through our international card processor.
  • Prices are those shown at checkout. We may change plan pricing with notice; a change takes effect at your next renewal.
  • When a subscription expires, the player stops accepting new song requests. Your dashboard and history remain accessible so you can renew.
  • Renewing before expiry adds time to your existing expiry date rather than replacing it.
  • Payments are non-refundable except where required by law or where we agree otherwise in writing. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us.

4. Music, licensing and playback

Public performance licensing is your responsibility. Playing music in a commercial space generally requires appropriate licences from the relevant copyright societies and a music service whose terms permit commercial playback. Using YouOwnMusic to decide what plays does not change those obligations, and does not grant you any licence to the underlying recordings.

You must not use the platform to attempt to obtain, copy or redistribute audio, or to circumvent any music provider's terms.

5. Content safety

The platform applies layered filtering — provider explicit-content metadata, title and metadata rules, a platform blocklist, your venue blocklist and user reports — and new venues default to Strict Safe mode.

We do not claim to detect 100% of adult or inappropriate content. Lyrics are not analysed, provider metadata is incomplete, and language coverage is partial. Songs the system cannot confidently classify are routed to your approval queue rather than played automatically. Final responsibility for what plays in your venue remains yours.

6. Acceptable use

You must not, and must not permit others to:

  • Use the service for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten or defame anyone
  • Attempt to access another venue's data, or probe, scan or test our security
  • Circumvent rate limits, verification, or the content-safety pipeline
  • Scrape, resell or redistribute the service or provider metadata
  • Upload malware, or images you do not have the right to use
  • Misrepresent your identity or your authority to act for a venue

7. Terms for venue customers

If you request a song at a venue, you agree that your mobile number will be verified, and that your request is logged against that verified session for venue safety and moderation. Your number is stored only as a secure identifier and is never shown publicly — see the Privacy Policy.

Venues decide what plays. A request may be rejected, skipped or blocked, and no explanation is owed. Requesting is subject to the venue's limits and cooldowns.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that generates repeated abuse reports, or where required by law. Where practical we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix it. You may stop using the service at any time; you can request account deletion via the contact form.

9. Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, provider outages and events outside our control can interrupt it. We may change or discontinue features, and will give reasonable notice of material changes.

10. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, YouOwnMusic is provided "as is". We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill. Our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live.
