How QR song requests change the energy of a gym floor

Members who pick the music train longer. Here's how to run requests without losing control of the room.

The problem with a fixed playlist

Most gyms run the same playlist for months. Staff stop hearing it. Members hear nothing else. The result is a room that sounds the same at 6am and 7pm, when the energy in it is completely different.

What changes with requests

When a member can scan a code on the squat rack and put a track in the queue, three things happen:

  • The room self-selects. The music tracks the people actually in it.
  • Requests spread out. A cooldown means nobody monopolises the speakers.
  • Staff stop being DJs. They approve or skip, and get back to the floor.

Keeping control

Requests are not a free-for-all. Strict Safe mode blocks explicit tracks outright, and anything the safety layers can't confidently clear waits for approval. You set the cooldown, the daily cap and the queue size.

Getting started

Print the QR, stick it where members wait — reception, the cable machines, the stretch area — and watch the first week's request history to tune your settings.
